Bio note of the Speaker:
Muneeza Shamsie is a Pakistani writer, critic, literary journalist, bibliographer and editor. She is the author of a literary history
Hybrid Tapestries: The Development of Pakistani Literature in English (Oxford University Press, 2017) and has edited three anthologies of Pakistani English literature including
And the World Changed: Contemporary Stories by Pakistani Women (Women Unlimited 2005, Feminist Press CUNY 2008), which received the 2009 IPPY (Gold) and 2008 Foreword INDIE (Bronze) Awards in the United States. Shamsie is a regular contributor to
Dawn and the weekly Newsweek Pakistan.
Shamsie is Area Editor of the online Literary Encyclopedia, the Bibliographic Representative (Pakistan) for The Journal of Commonwealth Literature, and serves on the International Advisory Board of The Journal of Postcolonial Writing. She has guest-edited Special Issues of this journal, including Beyond Geography: Literature, Politics and Violence in Pakistan (2011) and al Andalus (2016). She is a member of the Advisory Committee of the DSC Prize for South Asian Literature and served as its 2013 jury member. From 2009–2011, she was the Regional Chair (Eurasia) of the Commonwealth Writers’ Prize. Her memoir essays have appeared in several publications including 50 Shades of Feminism, Moving Worlds 13.2: Postcolonial South Asian Cities and The Critical Muslim 4.3.

Distinguished Speaker Series – Inaugural Lecture · 29 November 2020
The Indian Association for Commonwealth Literature and Language Studies (IACLALS) organized the inaugural lecture of its Distinguished Speaker Series in collaboration with Janki Devi Memorial College (JDMC, University of Delhi).
The inaugural talk was delivered by G. J. V. Prasad on “Translating (in) India: The Curious Cases of Indian English and Indian Literatures” on Sunday, 29th November 2020, and the session was chaired by Harish Trivedi.
