CFP: “Representations of Disability in Literature and Culture”, MZU. 25th and 26th May, 2023​

The Department of English and Culture Studies, Mizoram University, proposes to hold a two-day national seminar on “Representations of Disability in Literature and Culture” on the 25th and 26th May, 2023. The seminar shall focus upon the various representations of disability in literature, culture, society, and politics and it aims to  widen the scope of our understanding of what it means to function in the normal-abnormal binary, how notions of ‘normal’ and its definitions can be expanded, and the need to re-examine slogans like “better off dead than disabled”. The seminar seeks to engage with various representations, methodologies and approaches on disability on various fronts like the arts, in performance, in law, in academia, in literature, in the media while also linking them to complex explorations through race, gender and class.

Respected Sir/Madam,

We are pleased to inform you that Post Graduate Department of English,
Gujranwala Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Ludhiana, a century old premier Multi Faculty
College, affiliated to Punjab University. Chandigarh, will host a one-day National
Seminar on April 11, 2023 on “Humanistic Concerns: A Preview through Partition
Literature”. Prominent litterateurs/writers and their works will be under critical scrutiny
during the intellectual conclave of writers, researchers and scholars. Critical study of the
partition and splitting up, by the writers and their texts, translations from other languages
too. will be an added feature of the proposed seminar in which distinguished and eminent
resource persons from all over India will address the delegates.

We cordially invite the teachers and scholars of your esteemed institution to be a
part of this conference. The papers adhering to the norms set forth in MLA style
sheet, 8″/9″ edition, within the range of 2500-3000 words, be submitted by March
20, 2023.
